Adjusting

My eyes are rimmed with red and my laundry basket is overflowing, but can't tell you how much I love having two children.

The most asked question I'm getting lately is, "How is Caleb adjusting to the new baby?"
This is my answer as of now, but I'm sure it could change at any second.

Since Isaiah still sleeps quite a bit, it's easy for Caleb to ignore him.  When I'm holding Isaiah, Caleb likes to crawl into my lap and look at the baby with me.  His most favorite things are giving Isaiah his pacifier.  The shoving method is most preferred.  Caleb also loves taking off Isaiah's hat and touching his nose.
He also likes to touch his eyes, but I made clear that eye-touching was NOT allowed.

I've noticed that Caleb watches me to see if I'm looking and if I'm not, he sneaks over to Isaiah and gives him a little TLC.  Sometimes gentle, sometimes not.   There's usually some intervening by me.

Isaiah just takes it as it comes.

I've been doing well, too.  My recovery has been decently quick and though I'm tired, I'm just sleep deprived, not exhausted.  You who were pregnant know exactly what I'm talking about.

I've had lots of help these last few weeks and I want to send a shout out of thanks to you guys. Both Kyle and my parents have helped us more than enough.  We've also been getting meals from friends and I can't tell you how helpful it has been.  I've used the time I would have spent preparing a meal playing with Caleb.  As a result, he's been such a joy to hang out with.

Bob the Builder and Thomas the Tank Engine have come in handy a couple times this week as well.
We are adjusting though.   Caleb is doing great and I'm pretty sure Isaiah is happy to join our little family.

They always want to touch the eyes, don't they??!!! Caleb's behavior sounds very much like Patrick's when Sammy came along. Pretty soon Caleb will forget that there was even a time when there wasn't a little brother in the house!

Glad you're doing well, and I hope baby will start slowly sleeping longer for you so you can get some more rest :)

Two kids are plenty of work, but kids are fun.
Like grandma used to say,"When the kids are little, you have little problems, when they're bigger you have bigger problems."
Of course she meant just when you were having a rough day--not most of the time. :)
Have a good day. G-ma N
