Now You Know

Meet me
*My name is Lori.
*I just celebrated my 27th birthday with frozen waffles and some candles last Wednesday. I shared some of my candles with Caleb. He's an excellent candle-blower-outer.
*I eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich about every other day.
*I'm left handed and I part my hair on the right side.
*I have psoriasis, which is a skin condition, on my knees and elbows. No worries, it's not contagious.
*I'm more of a night owl than a morning person.
*When I was little, I could hold my breath the longest out of anyone else I knew. I'm not sure how I would do now. I haven't tried recently.
*My favorite color is green.
*I play the violin. I have since I was 3 1/2.
*I like to sew. I like doing smaller projects best.
*I never do my hair. I take that back. I only ever do it one way. No, two ways--up or down. And it's 97% up.
*I've never had braces and dentists have been known to marvel at the straightness of my teeth.
*I'm not good at talking on the phone. I fill in the silences with random babble that usually doesn't make sense and then I make a fool of myself trying to explain what I was saying.

Meet Isaiah
*He is ridiculously cute.
*His best friend is the vacuum. He gravitates toward it.
*He likes people. So far, he hasn't minded going to most people--the loud ones either. (Caleb was not a fan of in-your-face type people.)
*He likes to go for the computer cords and I constantly have to pull him away.
*Even though he likes people, he isn't bothered by being alone. He explores. In a few minutes, he'll crawl from the living room, to the bathroom, to the kitchen, to the bedroom and then to his own room.
*He has no problem crawling into a dark room. I often find him hanging out in there until I pull him out so I can keep an eye on him.
*He's a good eater.
*He has curly hair. The best time to see this is during his bath.
*He LOVES bath time.
*He still only has two teeth.
*He can stand on his own for quite a while and he is starting to try and step. The stepping isn't going very quickly though.
*He's so happy. All I have to do is look at him and he smiles.
*He LOVES being outside. Even in the sub-zero temps, he coos and kicks his legs when we are walking to and from the car.
*He still wakes up about once a night. (Yuck.)
*At the moment he's a total momma's boy and I'm enjoying every minute.

Meet Caleb:
*He's also absolutely adorable.
*He is going to break a ton of hearts some day which is charm and good looks.
*He's not a fan of having his picture taken constantly.
*He's 100% boy. I've had to learn the games of wrestling, dump truck, loader, trains, firefighter, farm, and let's-fix-it.
*I've also had to put in time outs countless times for hitting, kicking, "hugging" Isaiah too tightly, and patting him on the head too hard.
*He'll be 3 on Monday.
*His favorite videos at the moment are "Mighty Machines" and "Bob the Builder".
*He can potty on the potty, but he's too stubborn to quit playing to do it. He's not even swayed by candy or toys.
*He randomly counts and says his ABC's throughout the day--no encouragement needed.
*He can count up to 80 now--although he does need some help with remembering 50, 70, and 80.
*He has a hilarious fake laugh. It's sort of like a hip-up and he bounces his head up and down.
*He knows how to work the system. If I say "no" he asks dad.
*He's a snuggler. The fastest way to get him to go to bed is to cuddle up to him really closely.
*He's a good sleeper. This afternoon he fell asleep on the couch and didn't wake up to Isaiah playing with really noisy toys, me talking on the phone, or the VACUUM.
*He makes up stories--about the fire truck we just saw or how the dent got in the car in the parking lot. I love hearing them.

Meet Kyle
*He's getting his PhD in math. One more year left.
*He was at a math conference in San Francisco this past week.
*He's a family man. He was so excited to get home and see me and the boys.
*He knows the first 100 digits of Pi. (So do I. This one of the many benefits from being the wife of a math genius.)
*He has amazing work ethic.
*He has ugly toenails.
*When he gets excited about something he rubs his hands together really fast and sucks in through his teeth.
*"Ah, yes," is a very common phrase of his. I'm doing it too now.
*He's incredibly logical. Yes, or no.
*He cuts his own hair.
*He loved playing softball this summer.
*He’s a sports fan. Nebraska and Vikings football and Twins baseball are his favorites.
*He's a morning person.
*I love the relationship he has with his family and grandpa.
*He thinks I'm funny and genuinely laughs at my jokes.

I'll leave you with a very common scene from my day.
