Ramblings

1.  Overheard earlier this week...

Me:  Caleb, do you want a fried egg for lunch?

Caleb:  No, I want a Saturday egg.  Actually I want a Tuesday egg 'cause it's Tuesday.

Isaiah (because I'm not paying attention to him):  Maaaaaa!  (He sounds like an annoyed 40 year old who's mother just told an embarrassing story about him.)

Me:  Do you want a Tuesday egg too?

Isaiah:  Uh uh.

2.  Isaiah's butt is a diaper snob.  If butts could scream his would be yelling at me, "I said NO cheapy diapers!  Pampers ONLY.  Because of your disobedience I WILL become red and rashy!!!"

3.  Caleb loves to learn.  I mean he LOVES it.  He soaks up information like a sponge.  Right now he's really into learning how to spell different words or looking at words and sounding them out.   He can read many 3 and 4 letter words after sounding them out for a while.

4.  Isaiah, on the other hand, could care less about learning--where his ears are, for instance--and would rather kick a ball, do some laundry, or sing.  He's like his daddy and uncles and breaks out into song all the time.

5.  Messes.  I'm SO sick of messes.  I realize there will possibly be a time when I miss the little messes around the house because my kids are all grown up, but right now I'm at my wits end.  Isaiah has decided that when he's angry or done eating or just bored, he'll make a mess with whatever he can get his hands on.  Caleb refuses to use a sippy lid for snack time or any other time for that matter and as a result, I've cleaned up full glasses of milk 3 times this week.  Every time there's another mess I give a big dramatic sigh, give a time out if needed, and start cleaning up.

My sister called the other day and asked how I was feeling.

"Annoyed!"  I yelled, "But it's not from being pregnant."

"I'm not so sure," she said. "I was really annoyed sometimes with the kids I taught when I was pregnant."

So, maybe I'm just hormonal and I'm super sensitive to messes--and everything else for that matter.

6.  I'm secretly excited for the boys' coming Christmas presents.   Caleb and Isaiah are doing just fine with the toys they have but I'm having a hard time sitting down and playing with the same things.  When I get down to floor level to start playing, all I want to do is take a nap instead of play trains yet again.   (Wow, I feel really ungrateful now that I've actually put my thoughts into words.)  Hopefully, the new toys will rekindle my love of playing with the boys.

7.  Emotions run high in these parts.  One toddler, one pregnant lady and one 3-year-old who likes to get his way does that, I suppose.

This happened in a matter of 45 seconds.

(At first he was smiling for the camera, then he decided he wanted the camera, then he decided he was going to say "Cheese!" but then he decided he wanted the camera again.)

Nice teeth Isaiah. I remember the days of pregnancy of just wanting to lay down and sleep. I usually did sleep. Then I would wake up to some huge mess. I always tried to just be thankful for the sleep and count the mess as a small price to pay for sleep.

Missed seeing you at thanksgiving. We were 10 minutes from your parents on house on Saturday night, but we really needed to get home.

Let us know about getting together for Christmas. Our families are getting together the weekend before Christmas so we have Christmas weekend free.

Miss you.

Preschool life at it's finest! This post is classic in how well you captured life with little ones. I think you'll look back on this, at some point, and laugh about the craziness. For now, I hope you get a break when your hubby gets home! :)

Hey I see some eye teeth in Isaiah's mouth! (and some tonsils!:) ) Anyway glad to see those teeth he's been working hard at are coming thru! Still getting the rashes from diapers tho eh? Poor kiddo.... Maybe Caleb could use a glass with a straw and lid instead of a sippy if he insists on walking around with his drink.... Hang in there - you're doing a very important job - the most important - even tho it might not seem like it some days. And you do it well! G-ma F.
