Caleb turns 6!

Caleb turned 6 on January 25!

He was so excited for his birthday because he could a) have a big birthday party with friends, b) get legos and c) get money so he can get closer to buying the legos he's been saving up for.

Grandma and Grandpa F came the week before and gave him a card with a clue to what he was getting--but you could tell on his face he already knew.

It took him less than a day to put together this Star Wars fighter plane that is supposed to be for 8 years old and up.

Grandpa and Grandma (wish I got you guys in the shot!) took the kiddos to see a 3D movie while Kyle and I went out on a date to Menards and to see Les Miserables.  (Someone said to me, that is SUCH an adult date, and I can't help but agree.  It was a LOT fun so I must be a really good adult.)

The kids modeled their glasses for me the next morning.

Vogue!

On the day of the real date, we had party decorations all over and raspberry coffee cake in the oven, Caleb's request.  (He also requested tomato soup for his Birthday supper.  I was happy to oblige.)  We gave him a treasure hunt, which he was more than happy to read the clues and find a dollar bill at each stop.  After 6 stops and 6 dollars, he found his presents: a colored picture from Isaiah and the Lego Bible from us.

Birthday Breakfast

After school, Caleb had all of his little buddies over for a lego party.

It was complete chaos but oh, so fun.  For them.

Livia sat at her post almost the entire time, happy to be ignored and to be eating lots and lots of sugar.

Really though, these little dudes are so sweet.  Get them together and they're a bit bananas.  But Caleb has some pretty cool friends.

Right as the friends left, Grandpa and Grandma N came!  Bearing gifts, no less!

Uncle Chad also made a stop and visited us at our house for the first time.  It was so good to see him!

Happy Birthday Caleb!  You are a very special little guy.  I am amazed at how your brain works sometimes.  You're so creative and SO mathematically minded.  Just tonight we were figuring out how much percentage of the crust you and daddy would have if you two would share.  "50%" you said and came up with the answer easily.  Then, you managed to baffle us and shouted, "AND, if you divide it up between all 5 of us we would all get 20%!"  You are my best eater and always have been (besides Daddy) and you are so sweet and responsible when you want to be.  In fact, one of your first jobs as a 6 year old was to babysit the kids while I laid in bed, sick and worthless of doing any childcaring.  You were pretty excited when we handed $10 for getting the little ones food and playing with them for a couple hours.  And though we butt heads many times in the day, I hope you know I love you so so much.  I pray you will know who your Savior and look to him when I fail you.  Thank you for being such a great son.
