January 2017

January packed a punch with the weather.  It wasn't terribly cold but it was always dreary and snowy or RAINY.  Yes, rainy.  We had more days off of school because of the ice/snow mix than I imagine most Januarys go.

Lincoln and Kyle made the best of it and built fires in matching clothes.  If I have to be honest, it's a little terrifying how much Lincoln likes making and being by fires.

And if I'm honest again, I felt a little left out until...

He also loves his Woofie.

Not to forget Blankie, either.

Here's one of the no-school icy days.  I was quite proud of the boys for creating an ice hockey game with sticks and chunks of ice.

And what snow day is complete without a game night?

PieFace with pictures anyone?

Caleb got PieFaced!

Isaiah's PieFace style is "click fast and get it over with."

Oh no, he rolled a 5!

Livia's turn...

...and she gets by without the flying whip!

I remember this particular game.  Kyle got hit every single time.  He rolled a 5? He got hit.  A 2? He got hit.  Anything he got, landed him with a face full of whipped cream.  It was quite amusing.

Crazy weather art.

I almost cancelled my hair appointment twice this month.  The first time there was no way I could make it.  The second time I probably should have stayed home but I braved the roads so I could finally get it cut and colored.

And styled.

How did the lady do this?  My curls never come out looking or staying this way.  Enjoy the one picture I have of what my hair can do, but probably won't ever see again with my hair skills.

On the morning of Caleb's birthday, he received what many January birthdays have gotten for a present before--another snow day!

This time it was this thick, gorgeous, perfect-for-packing snow that only gets dumped every so often.

The boys played in the snow in the early morning hours, creating little things here and there.

And then came in to celebrate Caleb's birthday with mini cinnamon rolls.  His request.

After receiving a Clay Studio set of classes for the next month and a Ninjago lego set, he began putting the legos together.

After I cleaned up all the dishes, even I couldn't help myself and went outside to see how the packing was.  I may or may not have been by myself.

I guess when you see mom building a snow fort on the deck, it's hard not to join in.  Soon everyone was out and making things from the snow.  The weather was almost warm and the snow was a bit on the wet side, perfect for making a huge snowball.

Meet Livia's snowman.   I can't remember his name.  I can't even remember if he was a he.  But boy was this snowman cute.  And big.  And she was adamant that this snowman had a bucket on it's arm.

And here was our fort--a few satisfying hours of work.

After a while, we got good at our assembly and had different jobs of packing, hauling and placing.  Lincoln was even involved and actually helped out quite a bit.

Caleb had a birthday party a few days later with some good friends, Jeremiah and Jerald.  We brought them to the indoor pool where they swam to their hearts content.  We ended up being late by an hour because the boys were having so much fun.  I couldn't find any pictures even though I could swear I took one.  Highlights include losing our balloon waaaay up to the ceiling and having the pool lady grab it for us with a really long rescue stick.  Another was the Minecraft Rice Krispie bars.  Who needs cake when you've got those?

A week after Caleb's birthday party that we had another snow/ice day.  This time the kids tried their hand at ice sledding.

Look, it's a really tall toddler!

Our last day of March brought on some homework and some not-so-much homework.
