On Friday, I had my root canal. It actually wasn't that bad. Caleb had been a little crabby later that afternoon and since my dentist flew in a specialist for the weekend, my appointment was at 7:oo at night. In a way, in was sort of like a getaway because I got to watch a movie and lounge--the only bad part being that they were drilling the nerve out of my tooth. Lucky for me, my Novocain worked like a charm.

Garage-saling was great! Caleb tagged along in the car seat falling in and out of consciousness throughout the morning. We bought a couple toys and books for him, 3 rolls of wrapping paper for $0.25 together, and three pairs of jeans and two shirts for $0.25 each. It's amazing how when I'm garage-saling, someone can label a pair of jeans $2.50 and I'm "appalled"by how high their prices are. :) Here is a picture of Caleb on that morning. As you can see he is ECSTATIC at the bargains his mommy found. We also got The Original Memory Game at a garage sale. I used to play this game as a kid ALL the time and I have raved about it to Kyle once in a great while, so you can imagine how excited I was when he picked it up off a sale table and showed it to me! We have played at least 7 or 8 times this weekend already and we even got my dad into it! The game is for ages 3-6, but we are all kids at heart. :)
Here is Kyle before we play yet another game of memory. He is wearing a self-professed cheesy, fake smile. I must say though, its much better than mine two pictures before this.
My dad brought over his metal detector that he got a while ago. He hadn't used it yet so he decided to break it out with Kyle and have some fun. The metal detector is pretty cool! It can tell between different things like a penny or a quarter or a pop can. They went outside by the creek that runs past our apartments and tried it out. They found a bunch of pop cans and a brass gear or something like that, but they were rained out before they found the million dollars in gold that's hidden somewhere along the creek bed.
Here my dad is determining what kind of coin Kyle is waving in front of the metal detector by reading the screen by the handle. My mom found yet another trick that I had no idea Caleb knew how to do. I seriously need to experiment with him more and not just assume he can't do it or won't like it. She would put a burp rag over his head and he would take it off either by shaking his head or pulling on it with his hands. Then she would shout "Peek-a-boo!" He didn't exactly smile but I think he really enjoyed the challenge of getting it off his face.
That night we watched "Stranger Than Fiction" which was pretty good (although not as funny as I thought it would be) and I put Caleb to bed. He slept in three hour increments, which was AWESOME for him. The nights before he would be up every 20 minutes to hour and a half so I was happy. Then at 4:30 he got fussy from gas. My mom told me to wake her up if she wanted me to watch him--so of course I took advantage! (Thanks guys!)
Sunday morning, my parents left and we headed off to church. We handed Caleb off to Megan for her weekly "appointment" so that we could actually listen to the service. It was Palm Sunday so our scripture was on Jesus riding through the streets and the people praising him. Yet, Jesus wept for the people because they didn't understand what kind of savior he was. It was a great sermon, and I was quite proud of myself for not letting myself be on CONSTANT baby mode. Usually I can't stop thinking about Caleb or stuff about Caleb and I can't concentrate for the life of me. I've heard this gets better and better as the months go by.
We had communion that morning and some of the words to one of the songs our worship leader sang were, "all the fitness he requires is to feel your need for Him" (or something like that). I realized that I really didn't fulfill this requirement at all. I mean, I know that I need Him and I want to need Him, but I'm not sure I really feel my need for Hhim. I'm so thankful that we celebrate Easter every year because I REALLY need the reminder how great Jesus' sacrifice is for me and how much I desperately NEED NEED NEED Him.
After church, we went over to some friends' house for a potluck and some fellowship. Rose and Nathan were there with Jack, the cute, chubby little redhead that I constantly rant and rave about. Jack turns a year tomorrow and he loves to look at Caleb--I think to see someone that's actually as little (or not so little) as he is.
AND NOW, I MUST TELL YOU.......drum roll please....(brtrtrtrrtrtrtrrtrrtrtrtrtrtr)....
CALEB SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT LAST NIGHT!!!!!!!!
I put him down around 9:30 and he didn't wake up until 3:15!! That's 5 1/2 hours of pure, sweet, uninterrupted sleep. THEN he slept for 3 hours after that!
Ahhhhhh....
It was great.
I hope that wasn't his way of saying, "APRIL FOOL'S!"

Lori... that post was one of the LONGEST I've ever seen in my life. I'm uber-impressed. I liked the casual yet intricate weaving of pictures through the entire thing, and I loved the one of C-dub. (well, it rivals the one of your lips hangin down to your chin...) k, well, those are my profound thoughts today.
I am jealous you got to go Garage saling!!! how fun :) I hope Caleb also keeps sleeping all night for you!!
Love the fake cry......it's kinda like the whine that turns on a dime when they're two:) And I love 'Raymond'.....that show gets funnier the longer you're married and more kids you have:)
