Birthday Party!

We had Caleb's birthday party this weekend. It was a nice and cozy party with my parents, Kyle's parents, and Kyle's brother, Josh. I took a ton of videos and even more pictures. :) I've been trying to upload some videos though, and for some reason, they're not uploading. Grr. So no videos this time.

Friday night, (Caleb's birthday night), we went to the Macaroni Grill and stuffed ourselves silly. When we were all finished, Kyle's dad told the waitress we had a birthday.
"Oh?" she asks. "Who?"
He points to Caleb. "Him."
"Okay...." She trails off. "Well--does he like lemon or chocolate?"
We all decide he'd like chocolate.
A few minutes later the waitress comes back with a huge plate of chocolate cake and sets it right in front of Caleb. This was his reaction.
He was curious at first, only going for the "white stuff".
After he tried his first bite, he decided the cake was well worth two hands.
"Ya want some? I guess you can have a bite." The next day, my parents came and we started off on our full day of birthday bash fun.

To prepare for the task of opening all these presents...

...Caleb knocked back a few Red Bulls to keep his energy up. (Well, not really.)The first present took a while because the bow was a little distracting. And pretty. And curly. And festive. And colorful. And...oh, sorry. It took him a while to even be a little interested in unwrapping the present, but when he finally did......it was well worth it.

"Score!"However, after he unwrapped this present... ...and this present... ...I needed to unwrap the rest because Caleb was having way too much fun playing with his new toys.

Here's the picture we took for the spot in his baby album labeled "1st Birthday". Cheeese!

We stripped him down to his pants for the cake. We probably didn't need to though, because he was a very dainty eater. He made sure to eat everything that dropped on his plate.
This looks like it's going to end badly, but he was just feeling the sides and wiping off more frosting. I'm not sure he even had any actual cake. The frosting was just sooo good! Grandma F. made both his cake and a big cake with raspberry filling in the middle and with his favorite dinosaur, Diddy! My mom always had a tradition of taking a picture of all of my presents after my birthday so I knew what I got and when I got it. I thought I'd keep up the tradition. Unfortunately, Caleb decided his new things were more interesting than smiling for the camera.
We had so much fun but the day was only half over.
We went to the children's museum after that.
Pictures are coming soon...
