Easter Break: Part I

It's been a full two weeks of family going-away and gatherings but now we are back to normal. Nobody is missing and nobody else is adding to our family. Kyle went to a math conference in Pittsburgh while Caleb and I stayed back home and then we all went back to Iowa and Minnesota for a while to visit our families for Easter. It was a relaxing break. Kyle and I went on a date and Caleb got tons and tons of sleep with no problems (except for the first night) and all was good.

One night, Kyle brought out his MacBook to talk to his brother, Josh, via the web cam. One thing led to another and things started getting really weird.

I began to look a little elf-ish.

Then Kyle started to looked little elf-ish himself.

I told Kyle he looked really good as an elf but he got a big head about it.

So then I told him, "Well, I might have been wrong. You really don't look that great as an elf" and his big head shrunk--a little too much.

When I saw how deflated he was, I apologized and said, "You know what? Let's be football players. Elves are pansies anyway." So that's what we did.

We also did totem pole impressions.

Caleb joined in on the totem pole impressions as well.

The next day some of Caleb's cousins came over. Kyle's parents' home instantly became "babyworld", full of toy stealing, giggling, crying, head banging, and deliciously baby blue eyes.

And of course I suggested to take the "all the babies on the couch" picture. Wouldntchaknowit, it turned out surprisingly well--until Caleb tried to go off the couch head first, that is. At least I snapped the picture before the Great Head Bang of 2008.

For Caleb, the highlight of the entire trip was being on the pool table in Grandpa & Grandma F's basement. He spent as much time as he could running on top of the pool table, chasing after the balls, and sticking them from one pocket to the next. When there was only one or two balls left in a pocket he would have to dig WAY down to grab the ball. He wouldn't bend his legs as he did this..
...and I thought he looked a little bit like this.
The vacation goes on, but I'll leave that for next time.
