*Surprisingly, I haven't taken too many pictures over the past couple days. Caleb is doing a fine job of doing that for me. He loves buttons and he figured out how to take pictures. These were all taken by him.
*I never thought the day would come when Caleb would sit and listen to us read him a book. It has! He brings us books and backs up to sit on our lap and usually listens to the whole thing!
*On Monday I was out of plastic bags, which is a really bad thing in our house. We use plastic grocery bags to keep Caleb's dirty diapers in before we throw them in the trash. He's been pooing 3 times a day lately and I can't buy enough groceries to keep up with that. (TMI) I went to Hy-Vee and when they asked me if I wanted paper or plastic I said "plastic" and was SOOO happy that I wouldn't have to take another diaper all the way to the dumpster outside our apartments. I felt a little bad saying "plastic" and being happy about it since plastic bags aren't all that great for the environment. It didn't help that the lady behind me had those cool fabric totes to carry her groceries. Also, my kitchen reeks like old poo. I don't know if I forgot to bag a diaper (back when I had plastic bags) or what. So I had to take the garbage pail ouside and spray it out. THEN I read a post by my friend on why she started using cloth diapers. This all led me to think that I wanted to start cloth diapering Caleb as well.
*I've been spending 97.85% of Caleb's naptimes to research cloth diapers, the different brands and what you need to be a cloth diaperer. It's all very overwhelming. If you have ANY advice about cloth diapers, I welcome it. If you'd like to catch up on chores for me, that'd be just fine too.

All I can say about cloth diapering is--it is a ton of work! I tried it with Christopher, and he peed a lot, so we were constantly changing, soaking, and washing. Not sure how small your apartment is, but our house sure smelled like pee no matter how often we changed the soaking water. I even used a big bucket with a lid that sealed. And, it seems like boys pee way more than girls, so if Caleb is typical, you will have soaked clothes all the time also. BUT, if you really want to try, good for you!! Judy Hulstein
Hey Lori! I know my sister, Sarah, does a LOT of cloth diapering and she talks about it a lot on her blog.. http://sarahflanagan.com/ so that might give you some good ideas while Caleb is napping!!!
Tried the cloth thing too.....and I'll ditto the diaper pail smell is no better than the plastic bag dilema....
Funny....Matt's been taking photos too.....I'll email one (that I didn't delete)
We don't have too much trouble with pail smell. The really weird thing I learned is that it's better to NOT have an airtight cloth diaper container... which seemed odd to me when I read it, but my non-airtight cloth pail somehow doesn't smell as bad as any of the three "airtight" disposable diaper pails we've had did. We put lavender essential oil in the pail, and a plug in air fresher in the room, and as long as we was diapers every other day, it really keeps the stink down. I once searched for the perfect solution to avoid all diaper stench in our house, and I came to the startling conclusion that there were pretty much no diaper pails out there that were totally effective in keeping away 100% of the smell. The best remedy, I suppose, is potty training ;o).
